Got your ENTER score, and on your way to Melbourne Uni, you are one of the lucky ones. Not just because you made it to Uni but because you've found the best introduction to uni possible. O-Camp is the best introduction to uni life you can possibly have, but don't take our word for it, here's a clip of some of our members talking about O-Camp and the SSS.

WHAT'S O'CAMP?

Orientation camp is the best way to kick off your new uni life. Party all weekend, meet new friends, fall off a canoe, have a blast, dance all night and remember it for the rest of your life. By O’week, you’ll find that instead of standing in a crowd of strangers, you’ll be surrounded by friends.

Check it out on facebook

CAN I COME?

Orientation camp is open to all 1st year students of ANY course. The camp lasts 3 days from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st and is held at Campaspe Downs (near Kyneton). An indoor pool, spa and sauna, basketball, volleyball, trampolines, canoes, private lake and a goat are all on offer, as well as the traditional array of events, activities, games and spontaneous silliness that live on in uni folklore. It’s guaranteed that all through first year, enough classic “and one time, on O’camp” stories will be told to make even the most thick-skinned non-camper jealous...

Want to come? Then just follow these four easy steps and you'll be well on your way to creating your own O'Camp legend, but remember numbers are limited to 250 with a strict 'first in first served' policy - so you'd better get your application in early!

STEP 1

Download the Orientation Camp 2010 form, print it out, and fill in ALL your details. You can also pick one up from one of our friendly SSS crew, who will be answering your questions or just hanging out around uni during the enrolment period.

Then download the 'Indemnity Form' and fill it out too.

Once you have filled in both these forms, send to to:

Orientation Camp 2010,
14 Prunella Cl
Doncaster 3108

with your cheque for $150 attached. Please make cheques out to Melbourne University Science Students' Society. Please note, payment is non refundable, unless O’camp is sold out, in which case all money will be immediately returned.

STEP 2

You can check that we have received your form and payment on this website by clicking here - but please allow for postage and processing time. If a week has passed since you mailed your payment and form, and you are still not listed, please contact Stephen Henderson (details below).

STEP 3

Pack your stuff, which should include:

• Three days worth of clothes, warm or cold.
• Bathers, towel, shower bag (and shower cap if you want to look silly)
• Address book and pens for all the new friends you will make!
• No glass bottles - alcohol should be brought in cans wherever possible
• No sleeping bags - bedding is provided
• No food is necessary - 3 ‘gourmet’ meals a day will be provided by the camp managers.

STEP 4

Turn up to Uni at 11am on Friday 19th February. The best way to find us is to get yourself to the Melbourne University tram terminus on Swanston St and then follow the chalk arrows to the Redmond Barry Courtyard. Click here for a map and directions. Buses will return to Melbourne Uni on Sunday 21st by 5pm, but stick around afterwards for a few at our local pub.

SOME MORE ABOUT US

Orientation Camp is an annual event run by the Science Students' Society; a non-profit, non-exclusive student society affiliated with the University of Melbourne Student Union. Membership is a paltry $2 (for union members, $7 non-union), and is oopen to students of ANY faculty.

Orientation camp runs at a loss so we can provide you with the best camp possible! Feel free to browse the site, check out all our other fun events that we run throughout the year, and get as excited as we are about another awesome year of distracting you from your studies!
